Pressure Drop Calculations

Pipe Pressure Drop, Fittings Equivalent Lengths, Orifice /Venturi, Pipe System Hydraulics, Convert Pipe Diameter, Control Valve and Weir.

Pipe Pressure Drop Tool calculates single, two-phase and compressible fluid flow losses through cylindrical conduits such as pipe. Standard pipe sizes are coded into PETS®. Non-standard sizes may also be used.

Fittings Equivalent Lengths Tool calculates equivalent length of pipe of various types of pipefittings. A series of fittings, including straight pipe, can be included so that the total equivalent length of a circuit or pipe run can be determined at once.

Orifice/Venturi Tool sizes new orifices or calculates the pressure drop or flow of existing orifices. This Tool also evaluates restriction orifices, choked and critical flow orifices, and venturi meters.

Pipe System Hydraulic Tool provides hydraulic analysis of a system of 1 to 8 pipes in series. A pump and control valve can be added to the system. Liquid, compressible vapor, or two-phase flow may be analyzed. This Tool combines the functions of pipe pressure drop, fittings equivalent lengths, control valves, pump horsepower, and pump NPSH.

Convert Pipe Diameter Tool converts equivalent lengths of various pipe diameters to a single pipe diameter equivalent length, or converts the equivalent length of one pipe diameter to the equivalent length of another pipe diameter.

Control Valve Tool calculates the required Cv/Kv, pressure drop or flow through a gas or liquid control valve. Globe, butterfly, ball, angle or rotary eccentric valves may be selected. Valves can be evaluated with or without inlet and outlet reducers. Choked/critical flow is checked.

The Weir Flow Tool calculates flows through weirs including: Francis Formula, and ISO3846/ISO1438 calculations for open channel flows, broad and thin-plate weirs.
